Trump’s remarks about Canada becoming the 51st state are concerning, not because he will follow through, but because they highlight how weak Trudeau is. Trump would never dare say that to Putin or Xi Jinping. He respects their strength and strategic positioning. If he spots this weakness in Canada, how do you think the rest of the world sees us? Canada needs a strong leader who commands respect on the global stage. Until then, he will continue to grab us by our most sacred parts.

THABITHA MARK

(Trump knows the current prime minister is hanging on by a thread to government. That makes us weak.)

Perish the thought

People may be shocked at the recent news reports that 1 in 20 of all deaths in Canada last year were MAID deaths or medically-assisted deaths. I can see this rising to 20 out of 20 people in Western Canada seeking MAID deaths, if Justin Trudeau get re-elected…

Making tough choices

After nine years of Liberal fiscal mismanagement, Pierre Poilievre will have to take drastic measures to get Canada back on its feet. A refocus on critical spending. A reduction in federal public staff. Decrease of the national debt. Increase in Armed Forces funding and development. Changes to law and bail reform. It has to be done. Not to mention the external threats of tariffs and war. We are in for an interesting few years. Merry Christmas.

(It’s hard to fathom just how bad the state of affairs the Liberals will leave things. A Poilievre government will have to make some difficult decisions.)

Dramatic role

Trudeau may find it useful to start practising some acting lines. Perhaps start with “Et tu Brute, Chrystia.”

New Year’s resolution

I wish this New Year’s, politicians who allowed our economy to slow down causing a weak dollar while supporting higher taxes causing inflation, get defeated in the next federal election. Trudeau’s invested billions in battery plants, while failing our health-care system and NATO’s 2% military spending. He’s doubled our debt in nine years, while having a $42-billion 2024-’25 deficit. The NDP supported his GST holiday, but he wants to gift $250 cheques. Sadly, he’ll be spending borrowed money, eh!
